Why You Won’t Find Me At #BritMums or #CybHer 2014…

Since I started blogging in 2011 I’ve been to a blogging conference each year. It started with CyberMummy in 2011, and the past two years I’ve been to Brit Mums Live. In 2014 I was planning on a change and had bought a ticket for CybHer. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy Brit Mums Live but I just fancied trying something different, and can’t justify attending both, so plumped for CybHer. Its great to learn more about blogging as well as meet up with fellow bloggers and put faces to Twitter profile and blog posts. Well unfortunately I won’t be attending CybHer either next year, and not for the reason you might think.

Good enough reason?

Needless to say we are over the moon that Little Man will be becoming a Big Brother next year with this little bundle due towards the end of May. Bit too close to either conference for my liking, and no-one wants me going into labour AT the event now do you? No doubt I’ll attempt to follow goings on via Twitter and wish I was there with you, though to be honest, I think I’d rather be at home with my giant stomach or newborn, depending on how things pan out.

As for me, well I’m mainly eating Giant Chocolate Buttons and drinking milk by the gallon. There were a few rough weeks but I’m feeling much better now, apart from the permanent tiredness. I’m hoping the second trimester will be much more pleasant and I’ll soon be eating EVERYTHING in sight.

The birth of a new baby is an amazing time in any parents life and no doubt you want to shout it from the rooftops and tell everyone you know about your newest addition. What you don’t want to be doing though if wasting those precious early moments with a phone glued to your ear ringing around friends and relations, nor do you want to start writing emails to those friends that do have internet access and notes to those without. You want to spend every possible moment bonding with the latest addition to your little family. Its time to turn to CLD Stationery and get your babies birth announced quickly, easily and rather stylishly.

Birth Announcements cards aren’t a new idea, but I love the quality and style from CLD Stationery. They’re not the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for. You have the option of cards with photos of your little bundle on, or just simple text. There are colour options and text options, and you can get cards which are ready to send out immediately, or that have room for a short note of your own. Here are a few of my favourites.

I especially like the one in the top left corner. I love the simple yet striking appearance of just text on the card, whilst including all relevant details – gender, name, date of birth, weight and time of birth. Its clear and simple but looks really stylish. I think if you ordered a set and had one spare it would look great in a frame hanging on the wall of your newest arrival.

You can find a full range of Birth Announcement cards on the CLD Stationery website.

Once your little bundles arrival has been announced its inevitable that a steady stream of gifts and tokens will begin to arrive. You have to be hugely organised when items arrive, and make sure you make a note of who sent you what. Then as soon as you can manage you need to start thinking about Thank You cards. Again thanks by email and text are just very impersonal so a lovely Baby Thank You Card from CLD Stationery could just do the trick.

These are available with either gender specific borders of small motifs in the corners. They’re not huge so you wont end up having to write lots on each card, but there is plenty space to thank every relative or friend that sent something to mark your new babies arrival.

I can’t recall what we did when Little Man was born to announce his birth – I think it may have been something totally impersonal like a photo on Facebook – but should we find ourselves with the need to announce a birth again in the future, I think we’ll be taking a look at CLD Stationery for something a little more stylish.

You can find all the CLD Stationery collection now on their website.

Product Review: Lindam Easy Fit Push To Shut Safety Gate

So Little Man has learnt to walk. We’ve had months of merrily cruising around the lounge using the sofas or the table for support, but last weekend he just set off across the room with a confident swagger, as if he’d been doing it for years. This means the lone safety gate we have on the kitchen doorway is no longer enough. Thankfully he doesn’t climb the stairs – not successfully at least – so we just needed one for the top. I’m sure falling down the stairs would be something he’d excel in! I wanted something simple to use that I could open easily with one hand. For most trips upstairs I am carrying Little Man so I don’t want to be struggling to open the gate, or having to juggle him whilst I use two hands. Hardly good stair safety! The new Easy Fit Push To Shut gate from Lindam is perfect.

As you can see, he’s not going anywhere!

My Little Man is fairly strong and rattles at the gate when he’s wandering about upstairs and it is rock solid – probably due to the great fitting skills of Grandad I’m sure – but it is so easy to fit. Pressure fit between the wall and the banister post, the safety gate has a simple one handed press and lift opening. It can open in either or both directions and the opening is nice and wide. There is a bar to step over which you have to be aware of – especially when positioned like this at the top of the stairs – but I think this is an ideal gate for this placing. I can now go up and down the stairs carrying Little Man easily, and I know he is perfectly safe when I leave him to wander around upstairs.

The  Lindam Easy Fit PushTo Shut Safety Gate is available exclusively from Argos, and is currently half price in their sale at just £14.99 – I think we might be buying one for the bottom of the stairs soon!

Well after that rather brief heatwave a few weeks ago I think we can all safely agree that autumn is now upon us.  Whilst it might not be bitterly cold yet I’m sure it’s just around the corner so now is definitely the time to be sorting out your winter warmers for your little ones.  Can I suggest a virtual trip to My Mother Nature?

My Mother Nature sells a range of clothing for bump, baby and beyond, up to the age of 4 years, and they have a new range of gorgeous sweatshirts in from Olive & Moss that are perfect for keeping your little ones warm during the winter ahead.  Take a look at my Little Man sporting the Louis The Lion version:

Now this adorable sweatshirt is available in four designs – Louis The Lion and Tarquin The Tiger for the boys, and Collette The Cow and Betty The Bunny for the girls. I think whoever decided that a Tiger should be called Tarquin is clearly in the right job!  The sweatshirts are 100% cotton and have the character appliqued on the front.  They are available from size 6 months to 3 years. My Little Man is modelling the 12-18month size and it is a nice generous fit. The Louis The Lion design features the colourful Louis on the front with flapping ears and a matching bright yellow hood lining.  My Little Man was cosy and warm but still free to move around. It makes an ideal alternative to a thick coat on milder days and could easily be used all year round.

Check out the full range, plus My Mother Natures other lovely products on their website. You can also follow them on Twitter @MyMother_Nature.
