Product Review: Tidy Books Bookcase

Well it was only a matter of time before my book buying for my Little Man habit got out of control and we needed a better storage solution! Books have previously been piled in the lounge with his toys or in boxes upstairs but they’ve never been very tidy or easy to access for him without causing chaos. How’s this for tidy and accessible:

Whilst this is only a fraction of his books there is still loads of room for more on the shelves. With them being nice and deep you can put taller ones towards the back and smaller ones at the front. I love the fact that the books are facing the front so Little Man can see which one appeals and then get it out himself without scattering books across the room.

The bookcase comes flat packed and is so easy to build with the help of the included Alan key and a screwdriver – I managed to build it fully myself even with Little Man “helping” by moving the screws around. The panels on the front with the alphabet on are reversible, so you can have those parts plain and use it for other things when its been outgrown by your little one. The bookcase tilts back against the wall and attaching it is very important to avoid tipping it over – Little Man does try and reach the top shelf the best he can!

I guess the key question is does it work? Well I built it and propped it up against the lounge wall and put a few books on just to test out if the larger ones fit. It didn’t take Little Man long to do this:

That is Little Man reading his favourite “In The Night Garden” book. I can only apologise for the lack of trousers – not uncommon for him at the moment!

A brilliant piece of furniture that would look at home in any child’s bedroom or, as we have it at the moment, in the lounge.

Christmas Gift Guide: Last Minute Stocking Fillers… and Present Wrapping Help!

Christmas is so close now but there is still time for a bit of last minute shopping, both on the high street – if you’re really brave – and online – if you’re fast.  Here’s a few stocking fillers I’ve found that might help you finish the mad shopping for this year.

For the budding chef in your life, or just someone who loves kitchen gadgets can I suggest these Antler Trivets and this Oil & Vinegar Fire Extinguisher Set?

The Antler Trivets protect your kitchen surfaces from hot pans, and they are even more special because they are magnetic meaning that you can put your pan down anywhere and won’t cause any damage. The Oil & Vinegar Set holds 100ml of liquid and its dispensed by pumping the extinguishers. They are so cute, and have made a lovely stocking filler for Grandma!

Click here for more information on these fillers!

Fabric Flavours offers a massive selection of branded t shirts and babygros for children which would make a great addition to their stocking. Our favourite was this Gruffalo t shirt:

On their website you will also find designs featuring Roald Dahl characters, the Hungry Caterpillar, Star Wars and Denis the Menace to name but a few. They are high quality t shirts featuring bright and vibrant designs which your children will love.

And of course once all your shopping is done you have the dreaded wrapping to look forward to, and we all know that its generally down to the girls to do this. If the men in your life is anything like my hubby wrapping will be disasterous!! If you fancy giving him a challenge though, try some Man Wrap!!

Man Wrap is easy to use foil wrapping paper. It comes on a roll with a handle at one end, and all your man has to do is roll out how much he needs, rip it off, wrap it around the gift and press it down – and he’s done. Available exclusively from The Monster Factory Man Wrap comes in red or blue stars and is £5.99 for a 5m roll.
